Challenge the Limit at –20 °C Shangri-La Hotel, Harbin Successfully Holds Christmas Ice Bucket Challenge at Ice Palace Restaurant

Harbin, China, 24 December 2014 – Shangri La Hotel, Harbin successfully held the Christmas Ice Bucket Challenge on 24 December 2014, the opening date of Ice Palace and Ice Bar, the hotel’s seasonal restaurant completely made of ice.

Shangri La Hotel, Harbin’s general manager and staff, together with the principal of Yongsheng Primary School – the hotel’s Embrace project – led the event.  The hotel will donate the restaurant’s revenue on that date to assist the school in improving its campus facility and learning environment.

A Christmas aerobic performance by the students of Yongsheng Primary School opened the event.  In their swimsuits, 16 male and 2 female participants took the challenge in five groups.

To complete the challenge successfully, the challengers intensified exercise by using cold water for bathing to adapt to low temperature since early winter.  After two rehearsals and shouting the event slogan of “Challenge the Limit and Denote Our Love”, they finally stood at the scene of the challenge at a temperature of –20 °C.

The challengers proved that “where there’s a will, there’s a way” by their own actions to encourage the students of Yongsheng Primary School to study hard with the same will with which they showed in taking the challenge and grow into a useful citizens with bold ambitions.
