On 7 December 2013, Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou held its 7th Charity Fun Run at Nan Jiang Bin Park. This time, 185 managers and staff from 14 international and local corporations took part in the event.
From 2006 to 2012, the Charity Fun Run collected RMB402,500 in donations, which have been used to support local charity organisations.
The management and staff of Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou collaborated with the enterprises and collected RMB103,000 in donation from this year’s Charity Fun Run. The money was donated to a not-for-profit organisation, Jiandan Charity Organisation, to support 90 to 100 children from underprivileged areas in Fujian in completing their studies in 2014.
The Charity Fun Run proposes a relaxing, young and hyperbolic playing style. With five people in a group, all team members work together to move forward. In addition, to have fun on the appointed 2.5-kilometre journey, all teams were encouraged to dress in fun and outstanding clothing. Aside from the champion, runner-up and second runner-up awards, ‘best slogan’ and ‘best dressed’ awards were also given, fully showing the fun and creativity of the event.
Donations to this year’s Charity Fun Run are not only collected on-site, but also online. Shangri-La hotel, Fuzhou has posted the topic “Relay Run for Love” on its official Weibo account to invite the community to join the charity activity. Between 7 and 16 December 2013, netizens may easily participate by reposting the original Weibo post. Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou will donate the same amount as the repost number. This donation will be on top of the on-site donations, to help more children’s dreams of receiving an education come true.
