Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou Kicks Off The 2016 Christmas Season as The ‘First Snow’ Falls and The Christmas Carol is Heard

Fuzhou, China, 2 December 2016 – When the ‘first snow’ fell and the first Christmas carol of the season was heard, Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou lit up its 7.5-metre Christmas tree in the hall, kicking off its Christmas Lighting Ceremony on 2 December 2016 and marking the beginning of the 2016 Christmas carnival season.

Christmas is around the corner and the festive atmosphere in the city is growing.

There was no ‘Christmas red’ this year; instead, there is a romantic blue snow world. Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou’s public area was decorated to be like a blue fairy world in Northern Europe. A strong Western breath made up by sweet goodie house, a kindly Santa, a fairytale elk car and a 7.5-metre dreamlike Christmas tree in the hotel lobby let the guests indulge themselves in a traditional Christmas atmosphere.

One week before the Christmas Lighting Ceremony, the hotel held an interesting and meaningful Christmas-tree-decorating competition as a warm-up to the Christmas season. The hotel provided each team with a 1.8-metre Christmas tree, which they could customise with their creativity and imagination while decorating.

In addition to the Christmas Lighting Ceremony, Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou kicked off the Christmas season with a graceful violin performance.

“I am so excited to greet the 2016 Christmas season with children from Mercy Field Home. Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has created ‘Embrace’, a long-term project, through which Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou consistently gives back to the community in which it operates with a grateful heart. One of its Embrace projects is the Christmas-tree-decorating competition. We will invite all participating teams to deliver decorated Christmas trees to local charity organisations to let them feel the intense Christmas atmosphere,” said the hotel’s Resident Manager, Ms. Claudia Lee.

Hotel volunteers and children from Mercy Field Home together performed a heart-warming Christmas carol on the night, in addition to the brilliant Santa Rina flash show. Notably, the hotel’s pastry chef team co-created a 12-metre-long Christmas Log Cake, which was sold out by the end of the night. Proceeds from the sale would be donated to Mercy Field Home to help the children’s Christmas dreams.

On 24 December 2016, eZ Café on the hotel’s level 1 will provide guests an exciting Christmas Eve global gourmet gala night. Guests will enjoy extraordinary dishes from all over the world, such as traditional Roast Turkey, Boston Lobster, Australian Snow Beef, Imported Oysters, Pan-Fried Goose Liver, Christmas Ham Tenderloin and other Christmas specialties.
