Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo Hosts The Global Belly Dance Conference 2013

Ningbo, China, 28 August2013 – The Global Belly Dance Conference 2013 was held at Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo from 20 to 24 August 2013. Twelve world famous top belly dance master teachers such as FifiAbdou and Rachel Bricefrom six countries attended the five-day event to teach all dance styles. The event attracted 600 belly dance enthusiasts from all over the world, who gathered for five days of training, workshops, competitions, networking and gala dinners.

Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo provided the 2,000-square-metre Grand Ballroom, the 500‑square-metre Junior Ballroom and seven of the hotel’s 16 function rooms for the event.

“The Global Belly Dance Conference 2013 was very successful with the professional service of Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo. Our participants enjoyed the dancing, at the same time enjoying all the hotel facilities, like the spacious swimming pool, the fully equipped gym and CHI, The Spa and the legendary hospitality” said the organiser of the event.

The highlights of the event were the opening and closing ceremonies. For each of the ceremonies, before the master teachers performed on the stage, only 75 minutes were scheduled for the 600-cover gala dinner with silver service. In addition, some of the guests are Muslim and do not eat pork, and some of the guests are vegetarian, which made this service more challenging. The hotel banquet service and kitchen were fully prepared with 90 banquet waiters, 40 chefs and 15 VIP service team members.

“I believe the successful hosting of this global event is mainly based on the communications with the organiser covering every detail before the event and the spirit of teamwork by all hotel departments, especially the experienced events team and banquet service team. Like Global Belly Dance Conference, the city of Ningbo has more events to discover. Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo just serves any MICE groups in the heart of this vibrant city with legendary hospitality,” said Gregor Wateler, the general manager of the hotel.
