Nearly 200 Moms Perform “Flash” Mob on City's Central Street to Celebrate Mother’s Day

Nearly 200 Moms Perform “Flash” Mob on City's Central Street to Celebrate Mother’s Day

On 10 May 2015, dancing to Dongbei-style cheerful music, nearly 200 moms instantly appeared on the busy street in Changchun’s city centre, right outside the lobby of Shangri-La Hotel, Changchun, to celebrate Mother’s Day as part of the hotel’s “Love Mom, Love Shangri-La” Mother’s Day Charity Bazaar.

The moms danced to the music and lined up for a 200-person line dance.  After a few dances, they instantly dispersed and the prosperous business district restored to its original state.

The “flash” mob not only caught the citizens by surprise, but also brought joy to the hotel’s Mother’s Day celebration.

On the morning of 10 May 2015, Shangri-La Hotel, Changchun organised the “Love Mom, Love Shangri-La” Mother’s Day Charity Bazaar on the conjunction of Xi’an Road and Chongqin Road, the city’s busiest streets.  The bazaar brings together a wide variety of hotel delicacies and local flavours for charity sale, the proceeds of which will be donated to the earthquake-stricken area in Nepal.

The charity bazaar also highlighted a 200-person traditional Dongbei line dance in a “flash” mob by a group of 50- to 70-year-old mothers living in the neighbourhood.  When the music started, many dancers from all directions began dancing cheerfully, attracting several people to join in.

A few minutes later, nearly 200 people had participated in the line dance.  Smiling and cheerful, some of them were passers-by, some were of gray hair and some were staff of Shangri-La Hotel, Changchun who joined the line dance to celebrate this special day with the moms there.

The dance demonstrated the full bloom and vitality of all the moms.  One of the moms said that, because it was Mother’s Day, she wore make-up and joined the activity to show her children her pretty and dynamic side.  She added that she was very happy to be part of the line dance to celebrate her own festival.

Vincent Tian, the general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Changchun, said the hotel organised this special activity on Mother’s Day to showcase the fashionable, lively and stylish side of moms in Changchun, calling on children to spend enjoyable time with their moms by dancing with them.  At the same time, this activity provided an opportunity for more mothers to taste the hotel specialty gourmet dishes, experience the Shangri-La hospitality and enjoy its excellent service and products.
