Get Around with Ease
There are several ways to get around the island around by car, with or without a driver, in a van or on a bike. Taxis are available through the hotel concierge but if you prefer public transport, your options are somewhat limited depending on your location.
Taxis
There are two forms of taxis in Mauritius: tourist taxis and shared taxis.Tourists taxis mostly operate in the main cities and are regulated by the province or hotel. They are easily spotted by their bright yellow colour. Shared taxis are cheaper and operated almost 24/7 on popular routes, departing only when the vehicle is full.
Public Transport
Public buses are available. However, they are quite basic, and getting from point A to point B can take a long time and possibly involve several bus changes. Therefore, using the public buses is only recommended for the more adventurous traveller.
By Car
Private vehicles are available for rental directly from the resort, offering a comfortable way to explore the island at your own pace. For a more elevated experience, chauffeur-driven luxury vehicles can also be arranged. Advance reservations are highly recommended.
