Makati Shangri-La, Manila has partnered with Ospital ng Makati and Cancer Warrior Foundation in sponsoring young children diagnosed with critical illness as its Embrace, Care for People Project. Empowered by pure volunteerism, Makati Shangri-La colleagues share their personal time with these little warriors.

The hotel’s Embrace Project currently supports a total of nine children who have been diagnosed with either Acute Lympoblastic Leukemia, Non Rhabdomyosarcoma, or Hodgekine Lymphoma. Each child is undergoing Chemotherapy at different dosages and stages at their tender ages of six and seven. One child has suffered third degree burns and is undergoing skin drafting.

Hospital Visit 

Our colleagues spend quality time with the children, to lend their love and care. Especially during difficult times such as when they undergo hospital treatments. These visits help the children a great deal with the positive energy brought by our colleagues to distract from the pain during the recovery period.

Joint Birthday Party 

The colleagues of Makati Shangri-La, Manila organised a joint birthday party that was attended by the Embrace children’s families and our colleagues. More than the exciting celebration, what brought the party to life was the happiness in the children’s eyes that has kept their fighting spirit intact.

Johann Strauss Society of the Philippines Annual Charity Ball 

Our hotel partnered with the Johann Strauss Society of the Philippines for their annual Charity Ball which was held in the hotel's Lobby Lounge. Part of the proceeds of the event was given to Rey-Anne, an Embrace child victimised by a fire. This helped finance a follow-up surgery that has improved her condition tremendously, as well as put her back to school, both of which her family could not afford.
