On November 10th, 2024, Shangri-La, Yiwu held an intangible paper-cutting experience event in the hotel banquet hall. The hotel invited Gong Lingxiang, the representative inheritor of Yiwu paper-cutting, and brought a historical explanation about the paper-cutting and interesting live display and interaction to the guests.

Gong Lingxiang, a craft artist, a first-class senior technician, a master of arts and crafts in Jinhua, and a representative inheritor of Yiwu paper-cutting. Member of China Arts and Crafts Association, director of Jinhua Arts and Crafts Association, director of Yiwu Technician Association and secretary general of Yiwu Arts and Crafts Industry Association. The paper-cut works he created won many gold medals at the Expo. In 2014, the paper-cutting culture was promoted through various forms, such as voluntary public service activities and holding public paper-cutting school activities. In 2019, the project of "Building a Community Culture of Art Spreading to Ten Thousand Families" was gradually formed, and the multi-form and multi-channel "Art Spreading to Ten Thousand Families" paper-cutting school activities were carried out with the project as the carrier, dedicated to the popularization of paper-cutting culture.

"The invention of paper was in the Western Han Dynasty. Before that, the ancients had used thin sheets to make handicrafts by hollowing out and carving ..." In the activity, the teacher told us about the origin of paper-cutting and let everyone know its historical background. As a traditional intangible culture in China, paper-cutting is not only an artistic expression, but also a cultural inheritance.

In traditional festivals or important celebrations, paper-cutting is often used as an ornament to add color, and it is also a way for people to express their blessings and convey their feelings. In the paper-cutting exhibition and interactive session, Gong Lingxiang took the flowers of Yiwu-Chinese rose and the word "spring" as examples. The teacher specially designed simple and beautiful Chinese rose and the word "spring" for this activity, and explained the basic techniques and skills of paper-cutting in detail while demonstrating, from material selection and design to folding and cutting, every step was patient and meticulous.

Everyone was absorbed, listened carefully, and was enthusiastic. They all picked up scissors and paper and started paper-cutting creation. Carefully folded and carefully cut ... In this process, Teacher Gong Lingxiang also gave careful guidance beside everyone. With the click of scissors and laughter, the paper swung and flipped flexibly at everyone's fingertips, and the paper-cutting techniques of the guests at the scene changed from unfamiliar to skilled, and everyone cut out smart Chinese rose flowers and happy birthday patterns.

The process of paper-cutting seems simple, but it actually requires great concentration, patience and care. In the process of paper-cutting, the guests not only learned the paper-cutting skills, but also felt the charm of traditional culture, arousing everyone's concern and love for paper-cutting art.

Cultural inheritance is not only the end of an activity, but a new starting point. Through this paper-cut experience, Shangri-La, Yiwu not only shows its dedication and innovation in customer service, but also connects family and culture, art and life, emotion and aesthetics through the bridge of traditional culture.
