Embrace Gift of Life
Since 1985, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur has supported less fortunate children across Malaysia through its signature community engagement programme, Embrace the Gift of Life. Over the past 40 years, in partnership with Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, the hotel has dedicated itself to helping provide critical, life-saving medical treatments to children in urgent need. The programme has raised over USD 5 million, directly funding life-saving heart surgeries for nearly 400 children.
Every year, the hotelholds meaningful events, including breaking fast with underprivileged children during the fasting month, annual Christmas Charity Tree Light and Christmas High Tea for World Children’s Day, a tradition now continuing for more than 20 years. These gatherings help bring the community together in a shared spirit of doing good and giving back, creating joyful celebrations that raise vital support for children and families who need it most.
Pink October
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur partners with the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) Malaysia through its annual Pink October initiatives. Guests, colleagues and the local community come together during the charity walk, raising funds that are channeled towards mammogram pledges for women in the B40 community, helping them access life-saving screenings. The hotel also donates 5% of sales from the Pink Afternoon Tea and themed treats, reflecting its ongoing commitment to support awareness, early detection and the well-being of the community.
