Trains offer an efficient, scenic way of travelling within China, and link many parts of the country with reliable service.

Three long-distance bus stations are located just outside the city centre. The east bus station has frequent coach buses departing for Shanghai, Shaoxing and Ningbo.

Both Suzhou and Wuxi are accessible via the Grand Canal in Hangzhou. One boat departs daily for each location, both taking 13 hours.

The boating industry on West Lake is regulated. Boat operators wear light blue uniforms and charge about CNY 80 per hour.

Hiring a private boat is recommended, and the hotel staff will be happy to assist with the arrangements.
