The immensity of this project and the magnificence of its stance is seen as a miracle of the world. After the grinding of time, now when you climb onto the ancient site of the Great Wall, you can still see the grand Great Wall extending across the mountains and appreciate the wisdom and courage of the Chinese nation.

There is an old saying in Beijing: "First there was Tanzhe Temple, then came Beijing." Tanzhe Temple, built 1,700 years ago, is the oldest temple in Beijing. Tanzhe Temple is located at the foot of Tanzhe Mountain in the southeast of Mentougou District west of Beijing. The temple faces south, with its back against Mount Baozhu, and covers a total area of more than 121 hectares. First built in the first year of Yongjia in Western Jin (307 AD), the temple was originally named "Jiafu Temple." Later Emperor Kangxi of the Qing dynasty granted it the name "Youyun Temple." Since a dragon pond (Pinyin: tan) lies behind the temple and cudrania (Pinyin: zhe) trees grow in the mountain, it has the folk name of "Tanzhe Temple." The whole temple was built according to the terrain by a clever layout. The environment is very beautiful with ancient trees towering and pagodas standing in great numbers in the temple.
