Wuhan is the capital of Hubei Province and lies at the junction of the Yangtze and Han rivers. The Yangtze River, snakes through this modern and bustling city, which is also a major transportation hub for air, railways and expressways.

All international travellers require visas although Brunei, Japan, and Singapore passport holders are able to enjoy access without visa to China for up to 15 days.

Standard 30-day, single-entry visas can be issued in three to five working days from a majority of Chinese embassies, and must be used within three months of the date of issue. Longer visas are often more difficult to obtain.

Dress is generally informal in Wuhan except on social, diplomatic or government occasions, when a suit and tie is appropriate.

Summer is known for its scorching hot and humid weather. Expect summer temperatures ranging from 31 C to 40 C (88 F to 104 F).
