Orchard Road
Singapore’s entertainment
and shopping hub is regularly frequented by locals and tourists.
The street, an endless
string of luxury malls, is named for the nutmeg, pepper and fruit orchards that
used to lie on either side of the street in the 1800s.
Today, the area contains
numerous restaurants and nightclubs. It is also home to the official residence
of the President of Singapore, the Istana.
