The Noida Deaf Society (NDS) is committed to reintegrating the hearing impaired into mainstream society by teaching life skills and children’s education has been working modestly with the hotel since 2010.
A regular batch of 10 students are taken in and trained by a team of operational division heads on basic hospitality skills in Concierge, Laundry, Housekeeping and Security. The modules run for 2-3 months before the students commence their internship at the hotel.
The first batch of students started in July 2011 and should be employable in all other hotels within the National Capital Region by the end of 2011.
in April 2016 we partnered with a new Sanctuary project - SankalpTaru - a non-profit organization that initiates, develops and manages reforestation
and environmental conservation projects across India. In honour of Earth Day, SankalpTaru and the
hotel joined forces to carry out the foundation’s 46th tree-planting
activity. The hotel sourced 50 tree saplings from SankalpTaru Foundation. The
saplings were planted at the Jasola Sports Complex in New Delhi on 22 April
Our ongoing CSR initiatives include
regular contributions, such as Earth Day, which is celebrated 4 times a year, and our
continuous participation in the Cancer Support Walk. For the past nine years, our employees have generously donated books and clothes to Goonj every
year. At Shangri-La’s - Eros Hotel, New Delhi, we understand the importance
and need to preserve and conserve the environment, and have taken measures
towards being a green and eco-friendly hotel.
The guestrooms have a card on the bed that asks guests to let the staff know if they would want their bed linen not to be
changed every day so as to conserve resources. We also encourage using
biodegradable plastic bags. Biodegradable material is used for packaging our bathroom amenities, and we switch off lights whenever it is possible. In an
initiative to conserve electricity, we use solar panels to heat water, and a
treatment plant has been installed that allows us to recycle wastewater from the kitchen and
laundry for gardening and flushing. The lights in the public washrooms automatically turn off upon exiting. We also use an organic waste converter
to convert kitchen waste into manure, which is then used in the gardens. Similarly, eco-friendly fuels are used to generate electricity and water, and CFL
and Led lights are used to save electricity.
Our CSR initiatives will continue to
embrace responsibility for corporate actions and encourage a positive impact on
the environment and stakeholders, including guests, employees, investors, communities and
