Please note that taxis are metred, with fares starting at RMB11 for the first three kilometres. Therefore, it is not necessary to negotiate fares with the drivers before your journey.
Nanjing’s inner-city bus system is extensive and economical. Tickets for most routes cost RMB2. It is best to prepare sufficient change before boarding the bus.
The Nanjing Metro is inexpensive and convenient. There are two lines currently in operation. Shangri-La Hotel, Nanjing has direct underground access to Metro Line 1, from entrance/exit 1.
Nanjing is an important railway hub in eastern China. There are two train stations in the city: Nanjing Railway Station and Nanjing South Railway Station.
Trains link Nanjing to most parts of the country, offering a reliable and scenic way of travelling within China. The city serves as junction for the Beijing-Shanghai, Nanjing-Tongling, Nanjing-Qidong and Hefei–Nanjing Railways.
