Oman lies in a unique region where many coastal areas are still relatively untouched and unexplored, and new discoveries both on the land and in the sea are waiting to be made.
You may choose from a variety of nature activities and excursions. All are planned and conducted with sensitivity to our unique ecosystem.
In line with our commitment to biodiversity conservation, the group launched Sanctuary, Shangri-La's Care for Nature Project.
Turtle Care Project
At Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, Sultanate of Oman, we have the Turtle Care Project which aims to protect the endangered hawksbill and green turtle species native to the beaches of Oman. A dedicated turtle ranger has been appointed to ensure the nests are sheltered away from any threats and to raise awareness among guests and local communities alike on the plight of turtles through educational activities such as talks and viewings.
Please click here to download our Turtle Brochure for more information on our Turtle Care Project.
Located above our Mokha Café, our newly created Eco Centre is a dedicated area to explore and learn about the natural eco system in Oman as well as the extensive work that the resort undertakes through our Turtle Care project. The centre will have lots of information to take in and also be the location of our daily “Turtle Talk” and a host of fun and engaging activities for children.
