Nature Interpretation Centre

The Rasa Ria Nature Reserve was established by Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort in collaboration with the State Wildlife Department of Sabah.

This protected ecological space aims to facilitate rehabilitation programmes for endangered species of animals as well as those endemic in Sabah. The Rasa Ria Nature Reserve provides a home until they ready to be rehabilitated into their natural habitat.

Bird Watching at the Canopy

Witness birds that are only native to Borneo at the 64-acre site of coastal vegetation. The site serves as a habitat for over 60 species of birds. Enjoy your morning coffee while birding from the Canopy Walkway at a height of 10 metres.

Jungle Walk

The tour's trails include the Bird-Watching, Nature, Honeymoon and Native trails. The walk is guided by an experienced forest ranger. By considering various factors, the ranger will decide which trail is most suitable for the morning or afternoon jungle walk.

Visit to Canopy Walkway

Trek through the rainforest and witness life in the treetops as you walk along the canopy walkway, which is set at a height of 10 metres. You may be able to see birds, butterflies and long-tailed macaque monkeys jumping from tree to tree.

Forest Garden Introduction

This tour serves as an introduction to the species of flora that are present on the 64-acre Nature Reserve. The guided Forest Garden tour will be conducted by a knowledgeable ranger who will share information on Borneo's flora and medicinal plants. A free informational booklet on forest garden flora and medicinal plants will be given to those in attendance.

Night Walk

This trek is guided by an experienced forest ranger. Take the chance to encounter rare species of Borneo's nocturnal wildlife, such as the sambar deer, barking deer, mouse deer, civet cat, slow loris, common porcupine and many others.
