Beijing, 13 May 2014 – Mixologist virtuoso Luca Cinalli will be at Atmosphere at China World Summit Wing, Beijing from 13 to 17 May 2014. He is visiting the hotel from London’s Nightjar bar – voted the second best bar in the world by Drinks International 2013.
Luca, a leading London-based bartender from Italy, is the head bartender at London’s Nightjar – a prohibition-themed bar renowned for its inventive cocktails and top-notch service. Starting today until 17 May 2014, Luca will showcase his delicious concoctions to the lucky patrons of Atmosphere for five nights only.
Luca hails from Lanciano, a small town in the Italian Abruzzo region, but has been living in England’s capital for the past six years. He was brought up in a hospitality family and, from the age of 12, has worked as a waiter, chef, sommelier and bartender.
Luca, who overwhelms customers with his speed, is equally impressive with his consistency. His movements behind the bar are mesmerising and evoke the style of a world-class magician. The audience never knows quite what he is doing.
Known as a king of garnishing, Luca prides himself on the creativity, extravagance and beauty of his cocktail toppings – probably some of the best around. A quick look at his ingredient inventory is like poring over an encyclopaedia of flowers, herbs, spices, juices and fruits. Used to preparing around 500 drinks per night, Luca knows 60 recipes by heart.
Julep de Provence, The Scotsman and The Forbidden Perfume are just some of the seven cocktails that Luca created from scratch for his Beijing debut. His attention to detail is impressive and slightly bewildering.
The preparation alone for just a part of his Discovery Punch involves cooking black and green beans in water and sugar, blending, straining and mixing them with spices, not to mention the specially prepared mustard foam.
All this attention to detail and more will arrive at Beijing’s highest bar. Located above the clouds on the 80th floor, it is a veritable beacon of style. On a clear night, one can see all the way from Tian’anmen to the mountains surrounding the city. It is the bar to be seen at and is an excellent chill-out spot for those who yearn for style, quality and superb cocktails.
