Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang province and one of China's tourist destinations.

Among the city's famous attractions are two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the beautiful West Lake and the historic Grand Canal, which links Hangzhou to Beijing via the long artificial river. Local specialties include Xihu silk umbrellas, colour-glazed porcelain, Longjing tea, and white chrysanthemum.

All international travellers require visas except Brunei, Japan, and Singapore passport holders, who can enjoy access to Mainland China without visa for up to 15 days.

Standard 30-day, single-entry visas can be issued in three to five working days from many Chinese embassies and consulates. These must be used within three months of the date of issue. Long-term visas are often more difficult to obtain.

For further details, consult your travel agent, China International Travel Service, China Travel Service, or any Chinese embassy or consulate.
