Shangri-La Rasa Ria, Kota Kinabalu, is poised to captivate guests with a unique and sustainable Christmas tree in our Lobby for the 2023 holiday season. This eco-friendly masterpiece, crafted from 700 spider plants in felt grow bags, reflects the resort's commitment to environmental responsibility, with the bags made from 100% recycled plastic bottles.

Complementing the display is a plant fiber saucer, 100% biodegradable and crafted from recycled bamboo fiber, showcasing the fusion of sustainability and functionality.

Adding an artistic touch to the initiative is Jo Luping, designer of the Ecofelt Growbag. Made from upcycled plastic bottles, the grow bag features motifs symbolizing the distinct aspects of The Rasa Ria Reserve. Jo Luping, a Sabahan of mixed Kadazan/New Zealand descent, creates contemporary pieces in various mediums, capturing treasured memories from both her Borneo-New Zealand identity.

Guests at Shangri-La Rasa Ria can purchase potted spider plants at RM98 or the Ecofelt Growbag alone at RM88. Proceeds benefit local organizations, including MAMA Jarum in Tamparuli, empowering mothers with new sewing machines, Jireh Homes in Tuaran for orphanage groceries, and the Society of the Blind Tuaran, supporting the visually impaired.
