Transportation
Get Around with Ease

Visitors can travel around Dubai via taxis, public transport and abras. If you would like to hire a car during your stay in Dubai, we are happy to make the necessary arrangements.

Taxi

Dubai has a large, modern fleet of metered taxis. Drivers rarely carry much change and it is recommended that you carry AED 10 and AED 5 notes with you.

Ride-Hailing
Ride-hailing apps are plentiful in Dubai. Homegrown options like Careem share the road with the global behemoth Uber, quickly getting you from point A to point B with just a tap.
Public Transit

The Dubai Metro consists of two lines (Red and Green) which cover the main populated areas of the Emirate. The Red Line runs parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road and can take you from the airport to Jebel Ali on the other side of Dubai.

Buses
Local buses operate around Dubai, the stations are just below the metro train stations.  Fares are anywhere from between AED 1 and AED 5, depending on your destination. You will be paying the driver directly so do carry plenty of change.

Information on timetables is available from the 24-hour Dubai Municipality hotline 800 4848 or via Sh’ail mobile app.
Abras

Small motorboats called abras are the ideal way to cross Dubai Creek from early morning to late night.

There are two routes - one links Bur Dubai with the Deira Old Souk and the other links the Old Souk with Sabkha on the Deira side. The fare is AED 1-2 per person per journey, payable in cash only.
