A tropical festive celebration awaits at Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives with an array of festivities to end the year in style.  From bespoke menus that utilise ingredients from the island, to private jungle dinners and exhilarating activities that showcase the island’s natural beauty; the resort will provide unique experiences in harmony with surrounding nature.  
Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives is uniquely located beyond the equator and boasts a unique jungle setting with over 17,000 coconut trees and majestic banyan trees.  In celebration of the island’s unique ecosystem the resort will highlight its natural resources creating a tropical feel to the festive season. With illuminated banyan trees and sculptures made of handwoven palm leaves, the natural beauty of the island is also married with an abundance of resources. 
Gastronomic Delights
The resort utilises sustainably sourced products through Shangri-La’s “Rooted in Nature” programme; the initiative supports local agricultural and fishing communities, buying local produce, acquiring sustainably sourced seafood and serving organic and fair-trade products. 
Javvu restaurant will feature Asian specialities from Japan to India, with expert chefs preparing à la minute dishes at their dedicated live-cooking stations. Christmas and New Year buffets will complement the gastronomic feast with international favourites, such as Foie Gras, Persian Caviar, Wagyu Beef, Whole Crusted Salmon and a dedicated cheese and desserts room to delight the most discerning gourmets. The restaurant will also have a dedicated corner featuring the finest locally and ethically sourced ingredients from Addu fishermen and local farmers.
Dr Ali’s restaurant is hosting three culinary masters: Chef Latif from India, Chef Liu from China and Chef Ahmed from the Middle East. Each chef will craft his own specialties using locally sourced ingredients, in addition to a six-course Asian set menu. 
For an intimate and romantic festive celebration, Fashala restaurant, located at the edge of the island where the Indian Ocean meets the lagoon, puts premium products from the Indian Ocean at the centre of its culinary offerings. The six-course Mediterranean-inspired menu features wagyu tenderloin, Brittany blue lobster and fresh white truffle.
Each restaurant will entertain guests with live bands and a DJ performance throughout the evening.  On New Year’s Eve the resort’s trendy beachfront venue, M Lounge, will enthral guests with fabulous cocktails, a fireworks display, as well as a live band and DJ playing international favourites.  Guests will enjoy a unique nature themed show specially curated for the resort, by Nuits Blanches, an internationally acclaimed company presenting a dozen of multidisciplinary artists. With acrobats, stilt walkers and dancers, the company created a new category of art: "The Theatre of Night”, which will bring the island alive through entertainment and performances by exceptionally talented artists throughout the festive season. 
Recreation and Fitness
An array of recreational and fitness activities will keep guests active and entertained during the season.  From dance classes to total body workouts on the beach, golfing at the only nine-hole golf course in the Maldives or a game of tennis, guests can enjoy a comprehensive programme of activities during their stay. The resort has developed a series of exhilarating challenges, such as the Villingili Amazing Race, triathlon, golf-putting competition and tennis tournaments for guests to socialise, win attractive prizes and experience every corner of the island in a fun and entertaining way. 
Fun For The Whole Family 
Children will be well-taken care of with treasure hunts, sandcastle competitions, talent shows and more.  In celebration of the island’s unique ecosystem and biodiversity, a Tropical Safari has been specially curated for children of all ages to showcase Villingili’s natural beauty and encourage them to engage with local wildlife when exploring the island. They will be encouraged to spot the “Big 5 and Little 5”, such as turtles, hermit crabs, dolphins and the endemic white tern.  On Christmas Day, Santa makes an extraordinary arrival to Villingili with his bag full of gifts and exciting games throughout the day.
