Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius has released its 2019 Easter programme, which is brimming with fun activities the whole family can enjoy. With both adults and children in mind, the resort offers guests unique experiences, including a tempting chocolate-themed menu, a culinary pop-up with internationally acclaimed Blanchette restaurant, chocolate egg hunts and ‘Chase the Rabbit’ themed races, promising an unforgettable Easter for all.
Dining and entertainment
With food taking centre stage at most celebrations, Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius will house a month long culinary pop-up from top restaurant group Blanchette, serving up its simple, classical and innovative French dishes, with a Mauritian twist, from 17 April to 19 May. Founded in 2013 by three brothers, Maxime, Malik and Yannis, the quintessentially Parisian restaurant concept has seen huge success in London’s restaurant scene.  In the true spirit of families dining together, Blanchette’s menu is based on the concept of sharing.  The pop-up menu will offer classical French cuisine blended with local ingredients from Mauritius using fresh, locally sourced seasonal ingredients in line with Blanchette’sourcing ethos and Shangri-La’s “Rooted in Nature” programme.
Guests can also choose from a selection of fine French wines and cocktails to enjoy late into the warm evenings.  Music also plays a big part at Blanchette, with Malik, founder of sound design company La Musique du Faubourg, providing the soundtrack to ensure a buzzing and convivial atmosphere.
The resort will also offer an indulgent five-course chocolate menu served at Republik Beach Club & Grill from 15 to 22 April 2019.  The menu can be enjoyed with wine pairings to complement each course, hand-chosen by the resort’s top sommeliers to highlight the subtle aromas and flavours of a specifically crafted range of chocolates.  Both wine connoisseurs and chocoholics will delight in the full-bodied wines enhancing the prominent cocoa flavour of the dark, rich and strong chocolate and lighter-bodied wines pairing perfectly with light, creamy and smooth chocolate. This Easter, families can relax over a leisurely brunch served at the Safran, Kushi and Le Bazar restaurants on Easter Sunday, with exciting live entertainment by internationally renowned DJ Jade de Lavareille.
Jade de Lavareille will perform at the resort from 17 April to 1 May 2019, playing her infamous sets daily during the happy hour at Republik beach, while guests enjoy creative cocktails as the sun sets. Jade has performed her multicultural music around the world, from the legendary Burning Man festival to party hotspots, such as Ibiza, Tulum, New York, and Mykonos. She will also be the highlight of a specially curated event inspired by Burning Man Festival, alongside one of Mauritius’ most talented DJs, taking place on the resort’s private island, Ilot Mangénie. Ethnic, cosmic, funky or old school, Jade's music will take guest on a mystical journey through time and space.
Recreational and kids activities
The resort is a hub of fun activities during the Easter season with beach volleyball, a treasure hunt on the private Ilot Mangénie island, a petanque tournament on Easter Day and ‘Chase the Rabbit’ races, creating everlasting memories for families to cherish for years to come.
The Kids’ Club offers Easter workshops full of fun arts and crafts, face painting and folklore classes where they will learn the sega steps, the signature dance of Mauritius, and how to play native instruments, such as the ravanne and jembe.  Additionally, they can explore the resort’s boundless grounds with an Easter egg hunt in the gardens, home to the tortoise cove.  There will also be an Easter parade giving out delicious chocolates, and zip-lining on the neighbouring island, Île aux Cerfs, ensuring that the little ones are always entertained.
At CHI, The Spa, adults and children can be pampered with luxurious chocolate-themed spa treatments.  Kids can enjoy a 45-minute Sugar Scrub and Chocolate Wrap, followed by a relaxing hour-long massage, while adults can truly unwind with an hour-long Aromatherapy Massage using the hotel’s signature chocolate- and orange-scented oils, followed by a wrap or massage using cocoa-scented warmed clay.
