Double-boiled Beef Soup


  • 70g beef shank (cubed)
  • 10g Jin Hua ham (cubed)
  • 10g pork (cubed)
  • 10g red date
  • 5g Chinese yam
  • 5g ginger
  • 5g medlar
  • 5g spring onions
  • 5g Hua Diao rice wine
  • 5g salt


  1. Wash and clean the beef and pork.
  2. Place the beef, pork, ham, red dates, yam, medlar, rice wine, ginger and spring onion into a ceramic double boiling jar.
  3. Add water till it covers the ingredients.
  4. Cover the jar and seal with cling wrap or aluminium foil. Place the jar in a large pot, half submerge jar in water.
  5. Bring the pot to a boil, lower the heat and cover the pot to simmer for 3 hours.
  6. Remove the jar from the pot and add salt before serving.
