November 25, 2015 –Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto invites guests, both adults
and children alike, to celebrate the festive season by indulging in culinary offerings
beginning December 1st. Guests wanting to enjoy the magic of the season with
holiday inspired fare can experience the popular return of the Nutcracker High
Tea, and, later in the month, experience Christmas Eve Dinner, Christmas Day
Brunch and Christmas Day Dinner including the option of a five course tasting
menu. The hotel will end 2015 with a New Year’s Eve Dinner and a themed “Speak
Easy” party featuring an open seafood, cheese and charcuterie buffet and live
entertainment in the Lobby Lounge. We invite you to ring in 2016 with a New
Year’s Day Brunch.
Nutcracker High Tea
Inspired by the Nutcracker ballet, Executive Chef Damon Campbell and
his team of expert pastry chefs have created a new Nutcracker High Tea menu
with themed Nutcracker pastries inspired from the dances in Act II of the
ballet where the young heroine Clara and the prince are crowned rulers of the “Land
of Sweets”. These themed pastries include: the “Spanish Dance” a dark chocolate
cinnamon crémeux, almond anise polvorones and white
turron blando; the “Arabian Dance” a coffee cardamom crème diplomat, date molasses cake and phyllo honey crisp; the “Chinese
Dance” an imperial dragon well tea cream, mandarin gelée, chestnut purée and green tea sponge; and
the “Russian Dance” a Russian style gingerbread, condensed milk mouse and
peppermint meringues. Other menu items include a selection of finger
sandwiches: roasted turkey with cranberry preserve on herb country bread, honey
baked ham with caramelized onion on dark rye, as well as favourites like
Atlantic lobster and herb mayonnaise on brioche bun and truffle poached egg
salad on granary bread. To finish on a sweet note, guests can savour selected
tea cakes and scones served with clotted cream, house-made berry jam and
“Bee-Wall” honey harvested from the hotel’s new beehive installation located on
the third floor garden terrace, while sipping tea chosen for a menu of over 75
premium selections. A vegetarian option Nutcracker High Tea menu is also
available.
The Nutcracker High Tea, which launches on December 1st, is priced
at CAD$44 per person or CAD$22 per child and is served daily from 2:00 to 5:00
p.m. in the Lobby Lounge where the hotel’s official Christmas Tree resides adding
to the festive ambiance. The Nutcracker High Tea service will be accompanied by
live performances from performers such as award winning pianist, Thompson
Egbo-Egbo, the recipient of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award in the province of
Ontario.
Christmas Dining at Bosk
Dining highlights of the season in Bosk, the hotel’s signature
restaurant, include Christmas Eve dinner starting at 5:00 p.m. for CAD$99 per
person featuring chef Campbell’s five course tasting menu with items ranging
from Foie Gras Mousse with fermented concord grape, candied walnut and maple to
appetizing entrées such as the Wagyu Beef Strip Loin or the Alaskan Sablefish to
name a few. Guests may also select a three course prix fixe dinner starting at
5:00 p.m. for CAD$85 per person with a choice of chef’s signature seared Quebec
Foie Gras or Heirloom Beet and Burrata salad to start, followed by a choice of
entrée such as the seasonal Slow Roasted Organic Turkey and to finish, a choice
of dessert such as the “B-Wall” Honey Poached Pears. On Christmas Day, guests
can gather for a two course brunch from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for CAD$55 per
person (for an additional CAD $7, guests can indulge in a dessert of their
choice such as a selection of ice cream and sorbet). The Christmas Day three course
dinner can be enjoyed for CAD$85 per person or CAD$130 (includes wine pairings)
starting at 5:00 p.m. or chef’s five course tasting menu for CAD$99 per person
or CAD$140 (includes wine pairings).
Guests can complete the magical season with the New Year’s Eve four
course tasting menu starting at 5:00 p.m. for CAD$99 per person or CAD$174 per
person which includes wine pairings. A seven course meal is also available starting
at 8:30 p.m. for CAD$175 per person which includes a glass of champagne or CAD$275
which includes wine pairings. The seven course meal menu includes a choice of chef’s
signature Caviar Donut paired with a glass of Tattinger Brut NV Champagne from
Reims, France or his Yazu Sashimi paired with a glass of Ronco del Gelso Riesling
2013 from Alto Adige, Italy or the Butter Poached Nova Scotia Lobster paired
with Stratus White 2012 from the Niagara on the Lake or the Roasted Ontario
Duck Breast paired with Churton Pinot Noir 2010 from Marlborough, New Zealand to
name a few. Reservations can also be made for private parties in bosk’s private
dining room based on availability.
New Year’s Festivities
Guests can toast to the end of 2015 and ring in the New Year in the
Lobby Lounge which will feature a “Speak Easy” themed party with live performances
by local contemporary artists and bands with a midnight countdown and champagne
toast. Guests can purchase “Speak Easy” tickets which include a seafood, cheese
and charcuterie open buffet at 8:00 p.m. starting at $188 per person. On New Year’s Day guests can begin 2016 with a
three course brunch from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. starting at CAD$55 per person.
