After a six-week refurbishment, the former Horizon Spa at Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei reopened on 15 April 2013 as Qi Shiseido Salon and Spa, in conjunction with Japan’s leading cosmetics brand, Shiseido.
Positioned on Level 40 of the hotel and configured to offer bird’s eye views of the surrounding city and mountains, the Qi Shiseido Salon and Spa’s clean and simple lines, and earth tone colour scheme expresses a serenely minimalist atmosphere, complementing the signature floral scent that wafts subtly throughout the retreat. Five treatment rooms, a hair salon, a manicure and pedicure room, and six dedicated private spa suites, each with a marble bathtub, personal sauna and steam, and shower room, allow total relaxation during a pampering session.
The spa uses products developed by the Shiseido Beauty Science Association. Therapies unique to the spa and Taiwan include Oriental Relax (NT$4,000 for 100 minutes) – a full body massage using soft, long kneading strokes; Well Balanced (NT$5,100 for 115 minutes) – a tailor-made body treatment with a blend of deep tissue massage and soft strokes that targets tight muscles; and Moisture Whitening Balanced Facial (NT$4,400 for 100 minutes) – a brightening facial featuring two masques, one for moisturizing and the other for whitening, as well as a facial, head and shoulder massage.
Qi Shiseido Salon and Spa focuses on restoring the balance of one’s Qi, which is believed in the Far East to be a vital energy for the human body. In practicing this ancient belief, professional therapists readily recommend treatments after evaluating a guest’s skin and body condition, and their personal lifestyle.
