Pudong, in east Shanghai, was an undeveloped countryside just 15 years ago. In 1998, Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai opened its River Wing as the first and pioneering luxury hotel in the Lujiazui district of Pudong. Today, Lujiazui is eight times the size of London's new financial district. Committed to providing guests with the best facilities and services as Best in Class, Pudong Shanghai, East Shangri-La embarked on a renewal mission of the River Wing in January 2008.
The opening of the Grand Tower in 2005 placed Pudong Shanghai, East Shangri-La as the largest deluxe hotel in Shanghai, and it remains the largest of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts' properties.
