SHANGRI-LA’S FAR EASTERN PLAZA HOTEL, TAINAN INVITES POPULAR SUPERHERO AND CITIZENS TO CELEBRATE “2016 WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY” 

 

Tainan, Taiwan, June 14, 2016 – Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Tainan today collaborated with Taiwan Blood Services Foundation’s Tainan Blood Donation Center in a successful blood drive themed “Blood connects us all” for World Blood Donor Day.  The hotel invited popular superhero Deadpool and Star Wars Jedis, along with other superheroes, to encourage the public to roll up their sleeves and join the activity.

 

The event was held at 10 a.m. at the hotel main entrance.  The hotel management team and executive committee members were the first to donate blood.  Many people braved the sweltering heat and lined up this morning for their turn, among which, Mr. Chang was the first at 6 a.m.

 

At the end of the blood drive, 187 people donated a total of 48,000 cubic centimeters of blood.  One of the hotel staff, Chiang, who has donated blood more than 50 times, also joined the activity.

 

With the continuous rain showers and upcoming peak season for summer vacation, the number of accidents tends to increase and blood donation tends to decrease.  Blood donation centers throughout Taiwan have been sending out blood-shortage messages.

 

In response, Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel encouraged its staff to donate blood as a charitable act.

 

This year, to echo the charitable cause, the hotel ups its dedication to the matter by donating 200 meal vouchers as a part of the promotion to encourage the public to participate in the blood donation and help spread the love.  Those who complete donate blood (250c.c. or 500c.c.) and checks in on Facebook will receive a Café at Far Eastern buffet voucher or a 15 percent discount coupon valid at the hotel’s restaurants.  Through concrete actions, the hotel truly takes on its corporate social responsibility and is grateful for the public’s active participation.
