Flavors of Thailand in Shangri-La Hotel, Surabaya

Thai cuisine is a blending element of several Southeast Asian traditions. Thai cooking places emphasis on lightly prepared dishes with strong aromatic components. Thai food is known for its balance of three to four fundamental taste senses in each dish or the overall meal: sour, sweet, salty, and bitter. Shangri-La Hotel, Surabaya will bring you to a gastronomical experience during Flavors of Thailand from 25 April to 5 May 2013 for lunch and dinner at Jamoo Restaurant. Chef Wuttivit
Theerasomboonkun and Chef Jutamas Paintunyakit from Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok will bring you to taste the real Thai cuisine specially created by their selves.
 

Chef Wuttivit has many years of culinary experience gained locally and from overseas. He joined Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok in October 2003. While working at the hotel, Chef Wuttivit participated in the task force that assisted in preparing Thai dishes at Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu during the 12th ASEAN Summit meetings, which took place at the resort. Chef Wuttivit was inspired to become a chef after seeing King Rama IV's cooking photographs. He had the privilege of knowing Chef Charlie Amatyakul, a famous Thai chef, whose father worked in the royal palace and whose mother had
cooked for the royal family since the reign of King Rama IV. Chef Wuttivit stayed in Chef Charlie's home for five years and learned the art of cookery from him. He loves to cook, especially Thai cuisine and is a firm believer of promoting Thailand through his cooking skills.

Chef Jutamas’s inspiration to become a chef came from her mother’s kitchen when she was a child, which influenced her to continue her education at Dusit Thani College in Kitchen and Restaurant Management. During her study the in college, she had a chance to join many culinary activities such as food sale from the four regions of Thailand and the Food Stylish competition. Chef Jutamas joined Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok in 2010 as Commis III in the Thai Banquet kitchen and later moved to the Cold kitchen as Commis II. She had a chance to join the Shangri-La team from Bangkok to promote Thai cuisine at the Thai food promotions in Shangri-La properties in China and Indonesia at the World Economic Forum in January 2012.
