The international gastronomic society, Chaîne des Rôtisseurs (Sabah Chapter) recently held it gathering at Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort & Spa Coast restaurant that was attended by both members and invited guests that includes YB Datuk Masidi Manjun.
Themed the ‘Havana Heaven’, guests were feted to an expansive selections of appetisers and mouth-watering grilled, roasted and baked cuisines such as the whole basted New Zealand lamb saddle, Australian grilled rib eye beef , Chinese 5 spiced roasted duck and whole baked Mediterranean style sea bass.
Aside from having an evening of good food and good wine while being surrounded by good friends, the highlight of the event was the silent auction for a good cause to help raise funds for the Don Bosco Children’s Home in Ranau and also for the Orang Utan Conservation.
The silent auction saw rare and expensive items such as high grade liquors and wine, cigars and hotel stays at other Shangri-La properties inclusive of flight tickets being auctioned off. At the end of the evening, the silent auction managed to raise funds approximately RM13,000 for charity.
To complement the evening theme, a Cuban cigar roller was present to showcase the art of cigar rolling.
