The Evolution of Cairns' Iconic Building

Redefining luxury accommodation in Cairns, Shangri-La Hotel, The Marina Cairns announces the transformation of 184 guest rooms.

The $13M transformation has been planned in two separate phases commencing 2nd ofMarch 2018. This transformation process reflects Shangri-La’s commitment to continuously provide outstanding facilities to guests.

The guestrooms will undergo a renewal that will ultimately deliver, a standard that surmounts every expectation and will secure Shangri-La’s Hotel, The Marina Cairns’ current position as the market leader.

The design and décor of the guest rooms focus on modern simplicity with nautical accents, moving away from the traditional and embracing comfort, practicality and the local environment. The result will exceed the savviest traveler’s expectations.

The transformation process will take place in two phases:

  • The first phase, involving 115 rooms, starts on 2nd of March 2018 and ends 21st ofAugust 2018
  • The second phase, involving 69 rooms, starts on 30th of July 2018 and ends 14th of December 2018.

The phases of the transformation have been planned so that guestrooms being transformed are located at considerable distance from operative guestrooms and guests will not be impacted in any way.

During all phases of the transformation, the hotel will continue to operate as usual with uninterrupted service to ensure guests’ comfort and convenience.
