Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo Italian Restaurant Piacere to Open "Tapas by Piacere" on 2 October 2015

Tokyo, 24 September 15 – Italian restaurant Piacere announces a new dinnertime offshoot for informal dining, “Tapas by Piacere”. Starting Friday, 2 October 2015, with a concept of “Fun Dining”, guests will be able to enjoy small portions created for sharing by Executive Chef Andrea Ferrero at Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo (opened March 2009, address: Marunouchi Trust Tower Main, 1-8-3 Marunouchi Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, 100-8283, Japan, General Manager: Jens Moesker).

Guests and their friends can enjoy Tapas-style cuisine that Executive Chef Andrea Ferrero will offer and have fun exploring a walk-in cellar.

Meaning “pleasure” in Italian, Piacere is the signature restaurant of Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo offering contemporary Italian cuisine. Since opening, the restaurant has earned its reputation as one of the city’s finest dining experiences, with creative, cutting-edge Italian cuisine in an art form of its own.

Now Piacere adds a new dining experience, “Tapas by Piacere”, with a concept of “Fun Dining” for guests to share the restaurant’s creations, which can be combined with a wine of the guest’s choice self-picked from the restaurant’s famed walk-in cellars, where the backdrop are views of Tokyo Station and the Imperial Gardens.

Chef Ferrero offers a unique interpretation of tapas through a new reasonably priced menu, creating a casual and accessible dining spot right beside Tokyo Station.

Chef Ferrero’s tapas dishes are designed with beauty and sensitivity to match the wines at “Tapas by Piacere”. Each dish has character, thanks to the unusual textures and rich flavours created by the combination of natural Italian and Japanese ingredients. Dishes include Homemade Fried Potatoes with Aioli and Pecorino Cheese (¥900), Steak Haché with Yuzu Mayonnaise, Potato Cream and Majoram (¥1,500) and the beautiful colour contrast of Poached Egg and Truffle Caviar with Spinach Puree (¥2,200). Chef Ferrero’s dishes, created based on his discovery of the Japanese taste after his one-year experience in Japan, are sure to find their way to people’s hearts.

Guests will be able to find their favourite wine in the cellars with a 4.8-metre-high ceiling. With 30 selections ranging from reasonable to rare, the restaurant provides clear information on each brand, type and price, so guests can enjoy choosing with ease. Bottled wine is priced from ¥4,000 and a glass starts at ¥900.

“I’m very happy to have the wonderful opportunity to provide a new menu for our guests. Please come and dine with your friends, or after your work, in our elegant space together with the dramatic city view we have here above Tokyo Station,” said Executive Chef Ferrero about the launch of “Tapas by Piacere”.

Note: Prices are subject to a 15 per cent service charge and applicable consumption tax.
