Farhat Jamal, Area Manager and General Manager, Shangri-La’s - Eros Hotel, New Delhi

Farhat Jamal is the area manager for India and the general manager for Shangri-La's - Eros Hotel, New Delhi. Farhat firmly believes that his mission is to exceed the expectations of guests and to deliver service with the highest levels of consistency. Achieving this is tough and needs great focus and effort.

Farhat also believes that quality and excellence are driven from the top and that leadership has to walk the talk. For him, the brand’s standards cannot be comprised. The more we emphasize the value of good training, the better would be the service delivery and overall results of guest experience. Only if we train and retrain can we achieve consistency and perfection. His strongly believes that sincere intent with excellent executioncan deliver the desired results, develop capabilities and get people to perform and give their best.

He joined Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in May 2009, and was initially posted in Beijing. He later moved to Shangri-La, Hotel, Singapore. Afterwards, he became the pre and post opening General Manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Mumbai and the area manager for India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives from August 2011 to September 2012.

Farhat started his career at Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces where he spent about 30 years. In his last position with the hotel group, he was the vice president and general manager of the iconic Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, Mumbai and oversaw the operations of the other Taj hotels in Mumbai, Maldives, Mauritius and Dubai. He served briefly as the president and chief operating officer for Bharat Hotels Ltd.
