Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa Appoints New Director of Food & Beverage

Twenty-five year food and beverage veteran Yusuf Yaran has been named the Director of Food & Beverage of Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa after a twenty-eight months stint as the Executive Chef in the same resort. 

Yaran, a Turkish national, has worked with the Shangri-La group for more than a decade in its flagship properties in China, Indonesia and Philippines. His wealth of knowledge and experience includes culinary and wine in Turkey, Greece, Germany, France, Belgium, United Kingdom, United States of America, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Malta and Switzerland. 
Besides his Masters in Hospitality Management degree from Cornell University, Yaran also holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Universidad Internacional de La Rioja in Spain. 
Yaran is an active member of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs as Officier Maître Hôtelier and Disciples Escoffier. He was also awarded with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust Level 2 (WSET-L2) for advanced level wine and spirit technology by Ecole du Vin in Paris, France.

The resort's General Manager Gavin Weightman said that he is confident that Yaran will take this 492-luxury room resort's seven distinct restaurants and bars to another level.
