Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta has appointed Jürgen Dörr new general manager. He will lead around 1,000 staff members of Shangri-La Hotel and Residences, Jakarta and will be responsible for continuing to raise the profile of the hotel, which was recently named Best Hotel in Jakarta by FinanceAsia Business Travel Poll 2013, as one of the city’s leading five-star hotels.
With 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Mr Dörr brings to Jakarta a wealth of experience in managing distinguished hotels and resorts all over the world. He was previously general manager of Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa in Cebu, Philippines.
Not a newcomer to the Shangri-La group, Mr. Dörr was also general manager at Traders Hotel, Singapore. He served as resident manager at Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei. He was also the director of Food and Beverage at Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok; Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore; and at Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa, Kota Kinabalu. Overseeing the day-to-day operations of these hotels, he maintained the standards of excellence associated with the Shangri-La brand.
He has also held senior management role within the hotel industry, including five-star hotels in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Taiwan.

I find Jakarta very dynamic. It has grown so much in the last few years as business and economy are growing rapidly. The father of two is a triathlon athlete, enjoys outdoor activities, and particularly fond of spending time with his sons.
