Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong Launches a New Range of Moon Cakes in Addition to Traditional and Auspicious Goodies

Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong Launches a New Range of Moon Cakes in Addition to Traditional and Auspicious Goodies

This year, the Michelin two-starred Shang Palace at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong offers a selection of elegantly created moon cakes, including the brand-new Uji Matcha Moon Cake with Red Beans and Persimmonand Charcoal Moon Cake with Red Date Paste, Apricot and Walnut, as well as the ever-popular Chiu Chow Moon Cake with Pandan Leaf, Yam Paste and Salty Egg Yolk.  Two hampers brimming with festive goodies and fine food are also on offer to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival on 4 October 2017.

Charcoal Moon Cake with Red Date Paste, Apricot and Walnut

Elegant, gold-dusted charcoal-baked moon cake with a delightful combination of red date, apricot and walnut.  The delightful sweetness of red dates is enhanced by the chewy texture of the dried nuts.  A delicious, healthy option.

Uji Matcha Moon Cake with Red Bean and Persimmon

A creative Japanese take on the traditional moon cake.  The natural sweetness of persimmon from Koshu province is creating a refreshing bitterness of uji matcha from award-winning tea farm Yamamasa Koyamaen.

30-Year Mandarin Peel and Red Bean Paste Moon Cake

Inspired by the traditional dessert, Boiled Sweetened Red Bean Soup, this creative moon cake make is brought back by popular demand.  Nowadays, 30-year mandarin peel is much sought after because it is hard to find aged peel of more than 10 years.  Its zesty flavour is well complemented by the sweetness of red beans.

Chiu Chow Moon Cake with Pandan Leaf, Yam Paste and Salty Egg Yolk

One of the everyone's favourite by Chef Mok, this creation is a modern reinterpretation of traditional Chiu Chow Moon Cake with sweet yam paste encased in a puff pastry skin infused with the fresh extract of pandan leaves from Singapore.

Mini Snowy Moon Cake with Tokachi Red Beans and Green Tea

Dessert lovers can look forward to this delicious, refreshing and exquisite sensation.  Imported from Tokachi, Japan, the red bean is well-known for its sweetness and tenderness.  It is mashed into a smooth and creamy purée and, together with the high-quality green tea paste, wrapped in the green-tea-flavoured snow skin.

Mini Snowy Moon Cake with Durian Paste

This delectable creation is also brought back by popular demand and is believed to be the ultimate treat for durian lovers as it is made with only the finest D24 durian.  Its richness contributes to the snowy moon cake’s smooth filling and gives it a strong, fruity and distinctive aroma.

Traditional Moon Cakes, Festive Goodies and Hampers

Also gracing this year’s moon cake selection are Mini Moon Cake with Egg Yolk and White Lotus Seed Paste, the ever-popular Mini Crispy Custard Moon Cake with Mashed Egg Yolk and a choice of traditional flavours.  Two types of hampers brimming with festive goodies and fine food are also available.

Helping Children Shine – Moon Cake for Charity

To brighten the lives of children with special needs and help them realise their potential, the hotel has again joined hands with Heep Hong Society to present charity moon cakes.  Same as last year, the proceeds from the sale of every box will go to Heep Hong Society’s Children Training Fund and benefit children in need.

Containing four pieces of selected Traditional Moon Cake filled with Lotus Seed Paste and Double Egg Yolks, each box is wrapped with beautiful drawings representing blessings sent by the children.
