Shangri-La Hotel, Dalian Appoints New Executive Chef Thitisorn Amatasin

Dalian, China, 1 January 2014 – Shangri-La Hotel, Dalian announces the appointment of its new executive chef, Thitisorn Amatasin, also known as Chef Bic, to oversee the hotel’s culinary and banquet operations.

Prior to his current appointment, Chef Bic worked at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong as executive sous chef. He joined the Shangri-La family in 2008, overseeing a team of 20 chefs in the award-winning Angelini Restaurant and Bar at Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok. Under his direction, Angelini won and maintained its reputation as the Best Italian Restaurant in Bangkok by high-society magazine Thailand Tatler.

With over 12 years of experience under his belt, Chef Bic has worked in various fine‑dining establishments and five-star hotels all over Asia and Australia. He also had the opportunity to train under several three-Michelin stars French chefs, such as Pierre Gagnaire and Guy Martin.

A veteran in French, Italian and Asian cuisine, this post is Chef Bic’s first foray into Mainland China.

“I am very excited to add a new dimension to my experience. The Chinese cuisine is very fascinating with the use of spices and ingredients. I also hope to share my knowledge and create a union of tastes that will invoke curiosity and enthusiasm,” Chef Bic said.

As the executive chef, his responsibilities include menu planning, recruiting and training new kitchen staff, cost control and kitchen operations of the hotel’s three restaurants and two bars, as well as banquet operations.
