Shangri-La's Boracay Resort and Spa, Philippines Welcomes New Executive Chef

Amit Oberoi, general manager of Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort and Spa, Philippines, is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Brands as executive chef.

Chef Scott has over 18 years of experience in the food and beverage division of hotel operations, and in his new position, he will lead a team of 62 kitchen personnel.  His operation and administrative duties will cover the management of seven food and beverage outlets as well as the banquet kitchen.  His other responsibilities include planning, quality improvement, ensuring the highest level of hygiene and food safety, training, the controlling of food costs and inspiring the team towards success with internal talent development.  He will collaborate with the food and beverage service team to create memorable dining experiences for resort guests.

A native of Scotland, Chef Scott’s most recent posting prior to moving to Boracay was with Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, where he spent two years.  Before that, he was at Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa, Sultanate of Oman in Muscat for three years.  Prior to joining the Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts family, Chef Scott worked at hotels in Dubai and Lebanon, where he gained considerable experience and received various international awards and accolades.
