SATOO at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta Presents Middle East Specialties For Ramadhan

Food plays an important part in the celebration of Ramadhan.  SATOO, the international open kitchen restaurant at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, offers a special feast for the holy month.  The hotel’s newest addition to the chef’s team, Executive Sous Chef Yusuf Yaran, presents an exotic combination of Middle Eastern cuisine and an extensive range of international dishes from 7 July to 7 August 2013. 

Chef Yaran, the tenth generation of a family of chefs from the city of Bolu Mengen, which is famous for producing great chefs in Turkey since the Ottoman Empire, is the ideal person to bring this ultimate Middle Eastern dining experience to the restaurant.  As the official representative of Turkish cuisine from the Tourism and Cultural Ministry of Turkey, he will bring the spice-driven and full-of-flavour cuisine of the Middle East to Jakarta’s palate this holy month. 

For the Middle Eastern dining experience, guests can start with such appetisers as hummus, oriental salad, babaganoush and tabouleh.  The main course offers bountiful options, from chicken shawarma, lamb biryani, grilled fish harra sauce, Arabic saffron rice, lamb ouzi with oriental rice, beef shish kebab, lamb kofta,shish taouk, lamb kabouli, prawns gurvec, to dill and pomegranate rice, and chicken kabuli.

To complete the feast, guests can delight in special Turkish desserts, such as Tulumba Tatlisi (fried dough in syrup), Sekerpare (pistachio cookies with syrup), Cevizli Kabak (pumpkin confit with walnut), Firin Sutlac (oven baked rice and milk pudding) and Keskul (almond pudding).

An extensive selection of international cuisines will also be available for guests to enjoy. For Western options, guests can choose from such dishes as Gfrom grilled beef medallions, lamb casserole with pomery mustard gravy, salmon coulibiac with dill butter sauce to gratinated seafood thermidor and roast duck in orange cinnamon sauce.

SATOO also presents guests its specialities, such as spicy Indian cuisine, succulent Peking Duck, freshly made pasta, authentic Indonesian food and an array of sushi, sashimi and other Japanese appetisers.
