To celebrate the holidays, Shangri-La Hotel, Paris has teamed up with Baccarat to create a delightful Christmas décor for a season filled with special activities. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a ride in an imperial horse-drawn carriage or indulge in culinary creations designed to capture the spirit of Christmas.
The holidays take on extra sparkle with the hotel's exclusive partnership with Baccarat, where compositions in pristine white and gold serve as a backdrop for this collaboration. In the hotel's rotunda stands the partnership's centrepiece, a Christmas tree trimmed with Baccarat ornaments, their light refracted by Mille Nuits Baccarat candelabra set on a nearby console. At the hotel's entry stand two monumental Tsarine Baccarat candelabra.
Holiday Activities for All Ages
Christmas Day is an exciting time for everyone, and in that spirit Shangri-La Hotel, Paris has placed a giant Advent calendar, a replica of the hotel's façade, on the console in the atrium near the Christmas tree. Behind each of the 24 windows sits a gift to be won, including two sets of Château Baccarat glasses, a complimentary Christmas Teatime or a complimentary night's stay. Every day from 1 December 2012 to Christmas Eve (24 December 2012), five guests, visitors or online fans will be selected at random and invited to draw from a collection of five keys: only one key can unlock each window, which means that every day of the Advent will be like Christmas for participants at Shangri-La Hotel, Paris.
From 21 to 25 December 2012, the horse-drawn Calèche Impériale, the imperial carriage bearing the hotel's insignia, will be stationed before the main entrance, ready to take up to four passengers for a 25-minute tour from the hotel, around the Eiffel Tower and back. Inside the carriage, guests will find a throw in faux fur and a special hot chocolate service to keep them warm. The service is available every half-hour from 4 to 7 p.m. and is for the exclusive use of hotel guests.
Throughout December, guests will have the opportunity to purchase gifts and other items from Baccarat in an in-house pop-up store. A reference in French lifestyle for nearly 250 years, Baccarat will be showcasing collections alongside an assortment of other products specially commissioned by Shangri-La Hotel, Paris.
A Bûche de Noël for Christmas, and Other Fine Dining Events
Baccarat also makes an appearance atop the Bûche de Noël, the traditional French Christmas dessert that the hotel's head pastry chef, François Perret, reinterprets each year. Nestled inside a white satin box is a cake made of fine chocolate set on a chocolate biscuit, covered in white icing with a hint of cognac and topped with a sugar lace motif bearing a mahogany crystal from Baccarat's Médicis collection – a festive keepsake for guests to remember their stay. Available for takeaway only from 15 to 25 December 2012, the Bûche de Noël serves six and is priced at €95.
From 15 to 25 December 2012, guests can savour Christmas Teatime at La Bauhinia and in the lounges. The array of treats by Chef Perret includes hot chocolate, gingerbread, cinnamon Christmas cookies, chestnut tartelettes and Black Forest cupcakes. Christmas Teatime is priced at €45 per person, €80 for two adults and €20 per child.
In celebration of Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, guests will discover special holiday menus at La Bauhinia restaurant (€210 per person excluding wine on 24 December 2012, and €350 per person excluding wine on 31 December 2012). Following dinner on New Year's Eve, a lucky draw will be held among those present; the winning couple may spend the evening in one of the hotel's most beautiful rooms.
To ring in the New Year in style, the hotel's two Michelin-starred restaurants are presenting festive menus. For New Year's Eve, the one-star Chinese gastronomic restaurant Shang Palace will feature two holiday-inspired prix fixe menus by Chef Frank Xu priced at €250 and €450 per person.
For a fine dining New Year's Eve experience, Executive Chef Philippe Labbé, heading L'Abeille, the two-star gastronomic restaurant, has created two menus: €600 per person excluding wine and €900 per person including wine.
