Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, officially welcomes their new General Manager, Manfred Weber on 3 March 2014. In his new role, Mr Weber will be responsible for the overview of the hotel’s daily operations and special projects. He will also be inheriting an extended family of more than 800 employees, 662 luxurious guestrooms and suites and 5 diverse in-house restaurants in Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
Mr Weber comes with more than 20 years of hospitality experience, most notably in his previous position as General Manager of the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, where he undertook special projects for the improvement of the hotel and its facilities.
Prior to joining the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, Mr Weber spent 11 years in Shanghai and Beijing, at a time when China was on the cusp of unprecedented growth in its hospitality industry. He has also held postings in luxury hotels spanning Saudi Arabia and Germany.
Mr Weber, who is an Austrian national, started his career in the culinary arts. A graduate of the Catering and Hospitality Management College in Bad Gleichenberg, Austria, he began as an apprentice chef in 1987 before he assumed food and beverage management roles from 1993.
