Shangri-La Hotel, Dalian Presents i Cafe New Buffet Line Up

Dalian, China, 30 January 201 – To welcome the New Year, Shangri-La Hotel, Dalian presents a brand-new buffet line-up at its all-day dining restaurant, iCafé, spearheaded by newly appointed Executive Chef Bic.

From 15 February 2014, iCafé will feature seven theatre kitchens – an Asian‑spice-inspired showcase, crustacean display, healthy selection station, Western cuisine, Japanese corner, Chinese fare and a dessert spread.  Guests can watch chefs live in action as they prepare a la minute to keep the buffet spread fresh and appetising.

Asian-Spice-Inspired Showcase
This area offers an authentic Indian taste with six kinds of curry and freshly made roti parathaor flat bread dough.  The hot and cold dishes served with traditional condiments bring out the distinctive taste of Southeast Asian flavours.

Crustacean Display
Guests can savour an array of local and imported live seafood chilled on a bed of ice with a range of dipping sauce and condiments guaranteed to whet the appetite.  Diners should watch out for seasonal crustacean promotions on this space throughout the year.

Healthy Selection Station
Discerning diners can enjoy a wide variety of organic produce and fresh ingredients for salads and appetisers with a range of international and local dressing sauce.

Western Cuisine
Guests can spoil their taste buds with a selection of hot dishes, a carving station and homemade soup cooked in French or Italian style.

Japanese Corner
Diners can enjoy all-time favourite Japanese fare, such as sushi, sashimi, hand-rolled maki and creative small dishes by iCafé’s resident Japanese chef using seasonal ingredients complemented by a variety of Japanese condiments.

Chinese Fare
A spread of authentic Cantonese dim sum, local dumplings and steamed buns are available daily, in addition to iCafe’s signature hand-pulled noodles with an assortment of toppings and condiments.

Sweet Spot
This area is a haven for those with a sweet tooth with its beckoning selection of French pastries, cakes, tarts and imported ice cream.  Local specialties, such asHomemade Egg Tarts and Peanut Butter Soup,are also available on a rotational basis.

Lunch is priced at RMB238 per person from Monday to Friday and at RMB 288 per person on Saturday and Sunday.  Dinner is priced at RMB298 per person from Monday to Thursday and at RMB388 per person from Friday to Sunday.  Children below 12 years old will be charged half price. Children below six years old dine for free.

New Executive Chef Bic

Newly appointed Executive Chef Bic oversees the entire culinary operations for Shangri-La Hotel, Dalian.  A native of Thailand, Chef Bic worked at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong prior to his current appointment.

Trained in French, Italian and Asian cuisine, Chef Bic hopes to shake up the dining scene in Dalian with the innovative use of Chinese spices and ingredients to create a fusion culinary fare that will inspire and excite.
