Guests have a number of options available for transportation within Vancouver, including taxis and public transit. In-town transportation such as taxis, town cars and rental vehicles, can be arranged through the bellman or concierge staff.
The easiest way to travel in downtown Vancouver is on foot. The city is small enough and a majority of attractions and shopping areas are located within a few minutes walk from the hotel.
Taxis are available in downtown Vancouver and can be hailed on the street.
During peak periods guests can call a taxi company for a pick-up at no additional cost. Waiting times will vary depending on the time of day and weather conditions.
Buses
Buses run frequently during peak periods (7am – 9.30am and 3pm – 6.30pm), typically every 10 to 15 minutes. During off-peak periods buses can run at intervals of 15 to 30 minutes.
It is better to check a schedule for the approximate arrival time of buses, so that you know when to arrive at your stop.
Subway (SkyTrain)
A majority of buses connect with the SkyTrain mass transit system in Vancouver.
There are currently three routes. The Expo Line runs West / East serving Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and Surrey.
Millennium Line runs West / East serving East Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam and New Westminster. The Canada Line runs North / South serving YVR Airport, Richmond and Vancouver.
All trains run more frequently (3 – 5 minutes) at peak times and less frequently (7 – 12 minutes) during off-peak periods.
Rental cars are relatively inexpensive and drivers can choose from a variety of different car rental companies.
Drivers will need to hold a valid driver’s license, a major credit card and should be familiar with driving on the left side of the vehicle.
