Our Commitments to Social Responsibility
Creating harmony with nature, empowering communities - this is sustainability at Shangri-La Colombo.
Wildlife Conservation
Wildlife Conservation

Rescued after falling into a well and separated from her herd, baby elephant El-la now finds sanctuary through our joint partnership with Shangri-La Hambantota and the Elephant Transit Home. Together, we support her care, rehabilitation, and eventual return to the wild - protecting Sri Lanka’s gentle giants for generations.

• El-la’s adoption reflects our commitment to conservation and responsible tourism.
• Caring for Ella is a living expression of Shangri-La’s values - sustainability, empathy, and cultural connection - aligned with ‘Do Good’ and care that goes beyond.
• Join us as we honour Sri Lanka’s wildlife and celebrate a journey of hope with Ella.
Sustainable Supply Chain
Sustainable Supply Chain
Guided by our Rooted in Nature philosophy, we source with care - prioritising local, seasonal, and ethically produced ingredients. By understanding our supply chain, we ensure responsible sourcing while supporting the communities and livelihoods that nurture Sri Lanka’s natural abundance.

• We work closely with local farmers and fishermen to bring the freshest ingredients to our kitchens.
• Our Rooted in Nature initiative celebrates sustainably sourced produce with a dedicated menu at CBG and our signature cake - each dish showcasing Sri Lanka’s rich flavours and culture.
• We take pride in strengthening local livelihoods while reducing our environmental footprint.
Sustainable Water Initiative
Sustainable Water Initiative

At Shangri-La Colombo, we bottle our own water in reusable glass bottles, reducing single-use plastic and minimising our environmental footprint. This initiative reflects our commitment to sustainability while offering guests a cleaner, more responsible way to stay hydrated during their journey with us.

• Our in-house bottling plant eliminates thousands of single-use plastic bottles each year.
• By choosing glass, we ensure a safer, more sustainable experience for our guests.
• This initiative reflects our dedication to sustainability, “Do Good,” and care that goes beyond, championing a greener future for our community and environment.
