Changzhou, also dubbed as Dragon City, is a city in Jiangsu Province with over 3,000 years of history. Located on the southern bank of the Yangtze River, Changzhou sits in the middle of two major metropolises, Nanjing and Shanghai.

The Ruins of Yancheng

Yancheng Relics Park is the ruins of an ancient town, with a history dating back almost 3,000 years. It is the oldest and well-preserved ancient town in China.

The park is surrounded by three layers of town walls and moats. The wall is 20 meters high and 25 to 30 meters wide. It protected the town from enemy attacks with aid from the moats.

CC Joyland Theme Park

Located in the north of the beautiful Taihu Bay, CC Joyland Theme Park is the world’s first animation-themed park.

The park is spread out over more than 1 million sqm and is surrounded by nine individual themes. It is also home to the first atrium 4D cinema that features an all-round 360 degrees experience.

Universal Dinosaur Town

Recognized as the Oriental Jurassic Park, Universal Dinosaur Town combines a science museum and a theme park over 60 hectares of land.

The exhibition area is landscaped with waterfall, forest, cliff and caves. Altogether, there are 36 skeleton fossils of dinosaurs on exhibit.

Tianning Temple

Changzhou Tianning Temple was initially built in the Yonghui Period of the Tang Dynasty between 650 to 655 AD and has a history dating back to 1,350 years.

The site functions both a Buddhist temple and a monastery that was recently renovated by the local municipal government in 1990.

The temple is actually a construction complex comprising 497 rooms, 33 Buddhist halls, and 24 pavilions. Among the preserved 127 sculptured statues is the Budhisattva Guanyin at 13 meters tall.

Tianmu Lake

Tianmu Lake has been listed as one of the prestigious 4-AAAA tourist attraction sites since 2001 and is one of the natural reserves in Jiangsu Province.

One popular activity at Tianmu Lake is to sample tea made from plants harvested around the lake, mixed in with the lake water.

 

Hongmei Park

The topography of Hongmei Park is undulating and marked with rivers and lakes. It is also the site of several other attractions, including Wenbi Tower, Jiasha Tower, Bingmei Stone and Hongmei Pavilion.

Built between the Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty, Hongmei Park's history dates back 1,000 years. It welcomes 200,000 locals and tourists annually.

 

Su Park / Dongpo Park

Su Park, also known as Dongpo Park, is located in east Changzhou. It is a characteristic garden of the southern Yangtze delta, which combines natural scenery and places of interests. It is also an ideal spot for scenic views of the grand Changzhou Ancient Canal.

Taxis in Changzhou are metered. The basic charge is RMB 10 for the first 3 kilometers, then RMB 2.10 per kilometre thereafter.

Surcharges apply after 11pm, and can raise your total fare by approximately 40%.

 

Public Transit

Trains
Trains offer a reliable, efficient and scenic way of travelling within China.

You may travel in one of four classes: Soft Seat or Soft Sleeper with air-condition; and the Hard Seat or Hard Sleeper.

Changzhou sits in the middle of Shanghai-Nanjing High-Speed Train Line and also on the way of Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Train Line.

Bus
Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Changzhou opened on January 1, 2008, and has over 100 routes, covering the urban areas of Changzhou. BRT is very convenient for travellers and also the citizens.

Changzhou Xinbei Wanda Plaza

Changzhou Xinbei Wanda Plaza covers a total area of 380,000 square meters and is the largest urban complex in Changzhou. The area consists of an outdoor commercial pedestrian street, a well-furnished apartment and SOHO shopping centre.

Injoy Square

Injoy Square is the largest international urban shopping complex in Changzhou. In this fashionable and trendy area, you will be able to locate international labels such as Uniqlo, Muji, Zara, H&M, Asobio, Marks & Spencer, and many others.

Injoy Square is just 15-minute drive from Shangri-La Hotel, Changzhou.

Huayuan Street

Huayuan Street is one of Wujin District's busiest blocks, with numerous shops, pubs and a commercial complex. Once its refurbishment is complete, the street will be connecting to downtown Changzhou with it's long distances.

Huayuan Street is about 10-minute drive from Shangri-La Hotel, Changzhou.
