Shang Palace at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore will introduce five new rice dumplings packed with healthy and wholesome ingredients to give the traditional Dragon Boat Festival a refreshing taste. To complete the celebration, Master Chef Steven Ng has also crafted a seven-course festive set menu for lunch and dinner. A premium gift set comprising four different dumplings is ideal for the occasion. The rice dumplings are on sale at Shang Palace from 12 May to 2 June 2014.
With the addition of five novel creations to the menu, Shang Palace will offer a total of eight rice dumpling flavours to suit all palates.
The fragrant Black Garlic with Lotus Seed Paste Rice Dumpling is a blend of high- nutrient ingredients for both the old and young. Guests will delight in the piquant taste of black garlic paired with smooth and sweet lotus seed paste. The prized black garlic contains twice the amount of antioxidants as white garlic, while lotus seed is a rich source of nutrients like phosphorus, protein, zinc and iron.
The Eight Treasure Vegetarian Rice Dumpling is packed with nourishing ingredients, such as white fungus, gingko nut and sweet corn. White fungus is recommended for people with a weak respiratory and immune system as it nourishes the lungs. Its high collagen content is believed to provide similar health and beauty benefits as bird’s nest. Gingko nut is a traditional Chinese herb that is good for alleviating coughs and combating aging.
Dessert lovers will appreciate the new Bird’s Nest with Coconut Rice Dumpling. Each bundle is a concoction of bird’s nest and toasted coconut flakes. Bird’s nest boosts immunity and enhances the rebirth of cells and body tissues. Many ladies believe that frequent consumption results in a fair and radiant complexion.
Mixed Nuts with Yunnan Ham Rice Dumpling contains high- fibre sources, such as macadamia nut, walnut, peanut and chestnut. Yunnan Ham lends an intense and smoky flavour to the crunchy nuts. Guests can relish in the Pork Belly with Eel Rice Dumpling, a fusion of Chinese and Japanese influences featuring conpoy and dried shrimp. Succulent and tender chunks of slow-braised pork and barbecued eel give a surprising texture to this rice dumpling.
The menu also includes the classic Shang Palace Signature Rice Dumpling, comprising customary favourites, such as conpoy, roasted duck, roasted pork and Yunnan Ham. Discerning gourmets can select from other popular dumplings, such as Abalone Cubes with Soy Duck Rice Dumpling and the healthy Organic Five Rice with Walnut Rice Dumpling.
Shang Palace’s premium Rice Dumpling Gift Set, priced at S$77.05, is the perfect festive giveaway. Each hamper contains four different dumpling flavours – Abalone Cubes with Soy Duck Rice Dumpling, Pork Belly with Eel Rice Dumpling, Organic Five Rice with Walnut Rice Dumpling, and Bird’s Nest with Coconut Rice Dumpling.
