Jade on 36 Bar, which opened on 2 December 2005, is as modern, cosmopolitan and yet as Chinese as Shanghai itself, a stylish, hip space for sipping superbly crafted designer drinks whilst gazing at the city’s gleaming skyline. The bar, designed by Adam D. Tihany, is enclosed in frosted jade-green glass and lined in soft leather – a futuristic impression of a jade jewel box. Fuchsia and jade hues dominate the bar, from the carpet to the raw silk pillows and the designer outfits of the service associates. The glowing bar counter is the focus of the bright-coloured leather interior, which serves as a frame for the views of The Bund and its string of historic buildings.
