Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong welcomes back Franz Donhauser to succeed Wolfgang Krueger as general manager. Mr. Donhauser is no stranger to Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, where he held the same position from 2002 to 2008. Marking his return, Mr. Donhauser will oversee the overall hotel operation, which includes an extended family of over 850 colleagues, 565 guestrooms and 8 distinct restaurants.
An experienced hotelier, Mr. Donhauser grew up in Austria, where his ancestors owned and operated a small family hotel for many generations. Most recently, he was general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney, which he led to achieve notable awards and improvements.
Prior to joining the Shangri-La group, Mr. Donhauser was the general manager of ANA Grand Hotel Vienna, Austria. He has held several key positions with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, both in Asia and overseas, gaining exposure in both city and resort hotels. Earlier in his career, he worked in various positions in Switzerland, Thailand, Korea, Singapore and Australia. He commenced his professional career at the Hotel Bristol, Vienna and was educated at the Hotel Management School D. Speiser, Tegernsee, Germany.
