Island Shangri-La Hong Kong Debuts A Selection of Glutinous Rice Dumplings To Celebrate Tuen Ng Festival

Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong debuts a delectable range of glutinous rice dumplings to celebrate this year’s Tuen Ng Festival, available from 6 May to 12 June to heighten the spirit of the festivity.

Chef Ip Chi Cheung of the two-star Michelin Summer Palace made use of the finest and most delicate ingredients to create three sumptuous glutinous rice dumplings that stayed true to tradition yet with a luxurious twist.  These include Glutinous rice dumpling with abalone, Glutinous rice dumpling with sweetened red beans and bird’s nest and Purple glutinous rice dumpling with assorted wild mushrooms.  “A balanced and unique combination of fine ingredients and flavours is the key when crafting these glutinous rice dumplings. I have particularly included a choice with wild mushrooms for the health conscious.” Chef Ip explains.

To mark the launch of the new glutinous rice dumplings, the hotel has custom-designed a sleek container that resembles a box handbag style and in Summer Palace’s signature red.  The grandeur package will be ideal as gifts to friends and families during the Tuen Ng Festival.

The Glutinous rice dumpling with abalone and the Glutinous rice dumpling with sweetened red beans and bird’s nest are priced at HK$258 each, and the Purple glutinous rice dumpling with assorted wild mushrooms is priced at HK$138 each.  For orders with a box set of two glutinous rice dumplings, guests will enjoy a discounted price of HK$228 each for Glutinous rice dumpling with abalone or the Glutinous rice dumpling with sweetened red beans and bird’s nest, and HK$108 each for Purple glutinous rice dumpling with assorted wild mushrooms.
