Beijing, 31 March 2014 – China World Summit Wing, Beijing continued its effort to support Earth Hour and the future of the planet by lighting a hand-powered sculpture.
This year, in co-operation with FIJI Water, China World Summit Wing, Beijing put a great deal of effort into creating an eco-friendly sculpture that would display its dedication to environmental protection. The sculpture, made of 700 empty FIJI Water bottles filled with glow sticks, was showcased at the Wine Bar on the 79th floor of China World Summit Wing, Beijing on 29 March 2014.
The empty bottles were collected from Weibo and WeChat fans of China World Summit Wing, Beijing as well as FIJI Water. When the pedals of the hand-powered sculpture were pushed, the sculpture was illuminated from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., to the delight of guests. A great number of guests and media friends engaged in powering the sculpture.
Apart from the normal practice of turning off the entire building’s façade lights to support Earth Hour, hotel outlets on the 79th and 80th floors also participated in switching off most of their lights during the activity. Weibo fans also joined the initiative to support environmental protection by participating in China World Summit Wing, Beijing’s Weibo activity – for each repost, the hotel extended turning off the lights for five more seconds. A total of 348 fans took part in the Weibo campaign, extending the hotel’s lights off activity for 1,740 seconds more.
